PARTS OF SPEECH (EXPERT)
Definition:
Parts of Speech are categories of words based on their function in a sentence.
The Eight Parts of Speech
1. Noun
Names a person, place, thing, or idea.
Example:
Honesty is the best policy.
2. Pronoun
Replaces a noun to avoid repetition.
Example:
Riya is absent because she is ill.
3. Verb
Expresses action, occurrence, or state of being.
Example:
They have completed the project.
4. Adjective
Describes or modifies a noun or pronoun.
Example:
She bought an expensive laptop.
5. Adverb
Modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
Example:
He answered the question very confidently.
6. Preposition
Shows the relationship between a noun (or pronoun) and another word.
Example:
The keys are inside the drawer.
7. Conjunction
Connects words, phrases, or clauses.
Example:
He worked hard because he wanted to succeed.
8. Interjection
Expresses sudden emotion or reaction.
Example:
Hurrah! We won the match.
Example Sentence Analysis
Sentence:
"The intelligent boy answered the difficult question very confidently."

Intelligent – Adjective
Boy – Noun
Answered – Verb

Difficult – Adjective
Question – Noun
Very – Adverb
Confidently – Adverb
Note:
Articles (A, An, The) are generally taught as a part of Adjectives in traditional grammar, but in modern English teaching they are often studied as a separate topic.
