VERB (INTERMEDIATE)

Definition:

A verb is a word that expresses an action, a state, or a condition.

Types of Verbs

1. Action Verbs

These show physical or mental actions.

Examples:

Run

Jump

Read

Write

Think

Speak

Sentence:

She writes a letter.

2. Linking Verbs

These connect the subject with more information.

Examples:

Is

Am

Are

Was

Were

Become

Seem

Sentence:

He is a doctor.

3. Helping (Auxiliary) Verbs

These help the main verb.

Examples:

Is, Am, Are

Was, Were

Has, Have, Had

Do, Does, Did

Will, Shall

Can, Could

May, Might

Should, Must

Sentence:

She is reading a book.
